Eric nie jest zwolennikiem dokładnej M-wartości Albert A. Bühlmann. Zamiast tego zaproponował ustawienia Gradient factor tak aby stopniowo narastało nasycenie takanek - na początek ustawiona wartość GF=0.30 (30%) aż do GF=0.85 (85%) w momencie wynurzenia.
Z tego ustawienia korzystają domyślnie komputery Shearwater.
